History
The Postgraduate Business Administration Center – NPGA was created in 1993, as an instance responsible for the management, articulation and support of postgraduate activities at the School of Business Administration of the Federal University of Bahia – EAUFBA . Until then, EAUFBA housed the Academic Master's course, created in 1984; the Doctorate course in Public Administration and the Advanced Training Program – CPA, which brings together the offer of specialization courses, both created in 1993. In 1998 the Professional Master's course in Administration was created, completing the current scope of the NPGA.
During this period, the NPGA gained a strong presence in the local, state and national contexts, consolidating itself as a qualified space for the training of high-level human resources - until 2012, 345 masters, 86 doctors and 306 professional masters were titled; as an important center for research and knowledge production – ten active research groups accredited by the CNPq Research Directory, generating a significant number of articles published in journals well placed in Qualis in the area of Administration, Accounting and Tourism; and as an articulating instance of a Graduate Program ranked among the best in Brazil, according to the CAPES assessment.
With regard to the training of human resources for teaching and research, the NPGA, since 1998, has articulated partnerships with educational institutions, such as the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS), Universidade do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB) and University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC), for the offer of inter-institutional master's and doctoral degrees, with a view to the titling of professors from these institutions. This successful trajectory is the result of a continuous and systematic work that has as a perspective the adaptation of the Program to the postgraduate political guidelines; to the profile of students and the demands of society, seeking increasing levels of excellence.
With a qualified faculty, with diversified and multidisciplinary training, the NPGA houses an articulated teaching and research system, with different levels of integration, degrees of terminality and specific objectives, whose mission is to train teachers and researchers, as well as professionals with high qualification level to work at different managerial and decision-making levels, as well as to produce and disseminate knowledge.
The performance of the NPGA, as the articulating and managing body of one of the EAUFBA graduate programs, is based on three pillars: a) respect for the identity, specificity and objectives of the courses offered; including the constitution of its own faculty, respecting the recent guidelines established by CAPES Ordinances nº 1 and 2 of 2012, in terms of the type of insertion of professors in the courses, limits of sharing of professors and orientation capacity; b) sharing of infrastructure, human and financial resources, which makes possible the conditions for the improvement of the management of the courses, the service and support to professors and students, the strengthening of research and the stimulation of international insertion; and c) a systematic work of academic and pedagogical management of the Program's courses,
